Roots of many religions...ironically!!

I "googled" my home town Bihar today, and found some very powerful descriptors for it.

As per Wikipedia, "Bihar is a state in East of India, bordering Nepal. It is divided by the River Ganges, which floods its fertile plains (flood literally yes).

The official portal of Bihar Government says, "Bihar (Hindi: बिहार, Urdu: بہار,) is the 12th largest state in terms of geographical size at 38,202 sq mi (98,940 km2) and 3rd largest by population. Almost 58% of Biharis are below the age of 25,which is the highest proportion in India (is this statement is of any significance at all when majority of this young population does not even reside in the State).

Amongst all Indian states, Bihar is the one most intimately linked to Buddha’s life..." It is an important Buddhist pilgrimage place. Also in the state capital Patna, Mahavir Mandir temple is revered by Hindus, while Sikhs worship at the domed, riverside Gurdwara of Takht Sri Harmandir Sahib Ji."

I wonder if its mere co-incidence that most websites that introduce the State to you, also talk about the religious roots of many sects and religions here, the very reason why this State is also in shambles today. A State divided beyond repair on caste and religious lines, to suit the conniving motives of a few, especially in the political galleries. Don't take my comment as another "Bihar bashing Bihari's" frustration. My roots are pretty solid and I love my homeland. It's with a pinch of sadness that I make this comment.

This being my first post on my home state so I will try to keep it positive here. I invite you all to join my journey as I "re-explore" my home - this time with an outside-in perspective, and my life outside of this place.
