Life lately...

I am a hoarder but my life has been on a de-clutter mode since this new year. Relinquishing unhealthy attachment to things - living and non-living has been hard for me though. Hanging and holding onto things gives me comfort, feels like I have it all "put together" securely; until recently when I started to feel a little weighed down by this habit. Its like being in your comfort zone, like that child who cannot let go of its favorite toy even after its broken, dirty and ragged because it gives him some strange kind of happiness. Clutter of any kind slows you down, takes away your ability to think clearly, be it cluttered home, cluttered mailbox or a cluttered relationship. One has to prioritize and see what is truly meaningful and important and then let go of the rest. I started to feel that in order to make way for something new in my life, in order to challenge the stagnancy, I needed to let go of the past. I mean, doesn't nature too teach you just that - how...

Neon City - Hong Kong

This blogpost comes in a tad bit late due to my usual work-life stretch followed by hectic Indian Holiday season. However it is never too late to reminiscence a good story, so sharing my Hong Kong travelogue here with everyone. Not sure how many of you have the same confusion as I had about this place, about whether it is a country or a city? So before I went there, I did my bit of "googling" to find out more. An interesting system of governance here - manged through the principle of "one country - two systems", this former British colony enjoys quite an autonomy even though it is part of China - and almost despises the fact that it is (which I learnt upon my visit later). Hong Kong was handed over to China in 1997 and enjoys political freedom from China for a period of 50 years.
